We have just received our parcel of some play kits and my children have jumped straight in to play! I bought these for ease as I am a teacher and after spending my summer planning and resourcing my own classes play based work I wanted something easy for my children to enjoy- without the need to dye my own rice/pasta ect.
I would say the play sets are good, and worth it if you are maybe are starting out with setting up messy type play activities. I did find them a little basic, especially for the amount of money they are with no pouring type equipment of organising equipment included (we have had other potion type kits before that have included everything needed to explore the activity). They have the basis for the set with dyed rice and chick peas and some smaller items to encourage extended play opportunities and fine motor skills. My 2.5 year old loved the bee kit and spent ages exploring, my 4 year old was less keen with the fairy set but once we added our own little figures this kept her interested for a bit longer. I have ended up printing some extender ideas from the internet to stretch my daughter’s interest a bit more too.
So overall, a nice set and perfect to begin building any messy play/continous provision type activities for your children at home. Some further exploration, basic equipment and maybe some suggested play set up ideas would make these kits even better!
